You missed an airport… Really?

you know when you think you have seen and heard it all, you get slapped in the face with something you would never expect to happen. For example, Wednesday evening a plane was traveling from San Diego CA to Minneapolis MN when the TWO “Pilots” fell asleep while flying the airplane! Really? Can I become a pilot? Honestly if I could land a great paying gig like flying commercial airliners for a living and be able to sleep on the job, then I need to know where do I sign up?

At this point I am wondering what kind, if any, punishment will they receive? If I fall asleep at the wheel of my car and veer into traffic and hit and kill someone… I’m probably going to jail for involuntary manslaughter. Yes, I do understand that planes have “auto pilot” technology that does most of the work for the “pilots”, but come on! Is this not taking the security of technology a little too far? I don’t think the technologies that have made their job easier should be a fail safe for them, sure they may claim the passengers were not in danger but I would disagree. How many people would feel comfortable getting into a huge aircraft, which defies the laws of gravity and flies at over 300 mph, knowing the “pilots” wouldn’t actually be controlling the plane and were going to be taking a nap? I for one would be very hesitant to get on that plane!

Many of you know that I worked in the travel industry for about 5 years, dealing with problems between the airlines and their passengers, and I have got to say it is one of the most ass backwards industries this world has ever seen. One of the main issues I dealt with on a regularly basis were passenger looking for refunds because “pilots” decided to go on strike and their flight were either delayed or canceled. The “pilots” would strike because their pay or benefits were not good enough and they believed they deserved more. I don’t know about you but if I could get paid over 100k a year for traveling to a multitude of destinations and sleep while doing it… I wouldn’t complain too much.

Please do the right thing and press criminal charges against the incompetence of, hopefully, your former “pilots” and remove any compensation they would receive for that flight that put some many lives in danger.

Al Davis… oh how I hate you so

Uh Oh another stroke!

All though the Oakland Raiders won this last week I am still highly disappointed with them. Much of the disappointment I have comes from Al Davis and his inability to have good judgment after 314 strokes (give or take a few). Back in the day when the Raiders were the team to beat and the franchise was stellar , Al Davis made the Raiders the most valuable team in the NFL; in this day and age though the Oakland Raiders are worth about as much Tom Brady’s fecal matter. I can’t say I haven’t thought about giving up on them and wanting to follow a different team but I have too much pride for that, my only hope is that one day they will return to glory– unfortunately though that day will not come until Satan himself comes to collect on the soul of Al Davis.

I most recently began to have these thought of betrayal after the latest NFL draft that happened in April of this last year. As I eagerly awaited the Raiders pick, my hopes and dreams became more and more real as team after team passed on Michael Crabtree from Texas Tech. Then the time came… my palms were sweaty and I was filled with joy as the commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodel, approached the podium to announce the Oakland Raiders had picked Michael Crabtree to be an Oakland Raider. What happened next was like I was living in a horrible nightmare, something more horrific to me than finding out Hostess was NOT going to be bailed out by the government and Twinkies would cease to exist FOREVER! Unfortunately Michael Crabtree has found solitude on the opposite side of the bay in California and is playing for the San Francisco 49ers, all the while the Raiders are dealing with a one Darrius Heyward-Bey who has forgotten that he has hands and how to catch a football with them.

Some day though my Raiders will return to glory and won’t be the butt end of pigeon jokes any more. Until that day comes I will choose to watch only the highlight reels of the onslaught of torture that Jamarcus Russell and the Raiders experiences from a man that is more debilitated than Steven Hawkins… but to you Mr. Davis I do congratulate you on standing up for the first time in 12 years during the most pathetic win over the Eagles this last week… does that take your stroke count now to 315?

I have found common ground with President Obama…

And that common ground is hatred for the BCS polls! With me being a Boise State Broncos fan people may ask why I dislike the BCS way of life when it obviously is doing so well for my Broncos. The answer is simple… it is flawed. Regardless if Boise State makes it to a BCS bowl or even the national championship game, which is highly unlikely, there are still great teams out there who will probably end up undefeated and who are also non-BCS conference teams that will end up being pushed under the rug because of a higher ranked Boise State team. Now why in the world would I care if these other teams don’t get a shot at a BCS bowl game?

The reason I care so much is because I cared last year when it happened to Boise State. Boise state had a great undefeated regular season and ended up highly ranked, but so did Utah and ultimately Utah won the BCS bowl berth. Now I am not saying Utah didn’t deserve it, they had a great team and were phenomenal last year… but how come only one non-BCS team was allowed into a big bowl? I don’t like the fact that bigger colleges take care of each other and make it hard for smaller programs like Boise State or Utah or TCU to grow and better their college as a whole. Regardless if you like football or not it is a very lucrative means for colleges to earn money and better the schools facilities, faculties and many other areas that may need improvement. For myself it has been great to see what Boise State has done with the money they received in the Fiesta Bowl in 2007, new building, remodeling, more parking and so on. It improved the quality of education for the students and made it a better school. So why is it tolerated that we allow big named schools push the littler schools around and bully them out of money they could well deserve?

This is where I tend to agree with President Obama– we need to have a playoff system and get rid of the corrupt voting that happens behind closed doors. The majority of the BCS and larger college committee will disagree with me and President Obama on this one because they would end up losing too much money. Not to say that a playoff system would be perfect, but there are so many examples that they could use as a template to create a fair playoffs in college football that it wouldn’t be too hard to do. Granted there are factors that come in to play about the number of games during the schedule and all the traveling… and bla bla bla… But honestly if these intelligent people that run these colleges cannot make a playoff system work, should they really be able to run or teach in a colleges? I personally don’t think so.

Now I can’t say that I have a good answer or solution to the problems… all I can say is I don’t like how it is handled now and I wish the BCS and school officials would take the topic more seriously than they have been. I love Boise State and I honestly think they would have a chance at a National Championship if given the opportunity, that opportunity unfortunately will not come in the current way of college football life, but I do believe if you put Boise State into a bracket with 12 other football team… they will come out the winners!

On that note I place a challenge to this year’s and last year’s Nobel Prize winners… Mr. Al Gore and President Obama– please put your heads together and come up with a grand playoff system that would not only be lucrative and work within the means of the NCAA but also be fair to all colleges across the nation and then make a movie about it… maybe you can enlist the help of Michael Moore!

Poor Hailie and her close encounter with the H1N1…

So I had to take an extra long lunch today to take my wife Hailie to the doctor. She was finally getting over a pretty bad sinus infection when she started to get sick again… and this time sure enough it is the flu. The good thing it is only Influenza A, but for a minute there the doctor thought it was a good case for the H1N1. So after a giant cotton swab stuffed down her nasal cavity and swabbing what I figure was the bottom of the brain it came back to just the good old regular flu. I was happy to hear that because I guess it is much harder to spread the “normal” flu than the swine flu, so my chances of getting sick are slim (knock on wood).

I would have to say the most eventful thing that happened during the visit was when I got the prescription filled… all I can say is I feel sorry for pharmacists because they are another breed of people about to be replaced by a machine! In the doctor’s office there was what looked like a red box machine, all though it was blue, but you navigated through a touch screen menu and punched in your order number provided by the doctor and taaaa daaaaa… medicine! Pretty frickin amazing that we have become lazy enough to invent a prescription medicine vending machine! Oh and to all of my co-workers that think I will get you sick, go to hell and I hope you do end up getting sick!

Dear Capital High School teacher that touches yourself in public…

Really?

I’m sorry and I know I should not be surprised by this story in our world today — but come on!

I hate the fact that in a town as boring as Boise I see stories in our local news about a high school teacher going around, to heavily populated areas mind you, and touching himself inappropriately. I know there are a lot of sick people in this world that do horrible things, but this guy teaches high school and is the basketball coach and influences children on a daily basis… talk about a good example. The thing I don’t get is when this guy was originally caught in COSTCO (yes Costco) back in February touching himself, why wasn’t he arrested there on the spot and removed from his position as a teacher and basketball coach? Am I crazy to think that this would be a terminable offense and remove him from influencing children… or even one that would require him to register as a sex offender? Am I also crazy to think that the Police here in Boise should have been on top of this guy from the get go, especially with him being a teacher and holding so much influence on kids? I don’t like the fact that when I become a father it will be my responsibility to ensure my children are being taught by qualified and upstanding people… not some degenerate that thinks it’s ok to whip it out and whack it in front of hundreds of people in Costco or Wal-Mart! Maybe he idolized Pee-Wee Herman a little too much when he was younger!

So to you Mr. Douche Bag that is so hard pressed for your jollies– I hope you get your max stay in prison and I hope you get to experience having someone else impose their jollies onto or into you.

How NOBEL is it really?

After reading about Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, the one thing I am drawn to is how peacefully he handled the whole civil unrest in Honduras. In my mind that was about as peaceful as Walt Disney cartoons about how Nazi children are raised. It really scares me to think that he would be ok with releasing terrorists back into the world… but when a country tries to overturn an evil dictator he goes and get’s his panties all up in a bunch. Granted if you know me on a personal level within the recent years you would understand that I believe Obama himself will cause armageddon to fall upon us, and frankly I think he is planning it.

This fact that he has won the Nobel Peace Prize leads me to beleive that they hold no worth anymore and are about as important to me as a self entitled fat girl who wants to be lesbian; but morally cant bring her self to do it because she is a “liberal conservative” and all though she doesn’t disagree with gay people and their life styles she still won’t stoop low enough to become “gay”. With me trying to turn a new leave and be more optimistic in my life I hope that after reading the stories thus far about Obama and his new shiny toy there will be a silver lining to this cloud… I’m just hoping when that day comes, it comes in the form of a Family Guy episode that replaced cheesy Grammy jokes with updated Nobel Peace Prize jokes!

Not to say that I am judging Jake by any means because as soon as he told me he said it, I told him to F off! He had a valid reason for being angry and it made him feel better, now I am not by any means advocating using foul language when you are angry or that it is justifiable, but it has become a word that has been so overly used by our society that it makes me sick. I’m not one to tell someone what they can and cannot say, but really? There are so many things in this world that people can complain about when it comes to Humans and the effect they have on the Earth and other species and blah blah blah blah… what about the effect we have on each other? Do dolphins or dogs or gorillas have “bad words” that they can either bark, squeak or grunt? Do they use offensive language around each other and make each other feel uncomfortable? I have seen enough dogs stuck together from humping in public from my time in Honduras that I am sure they are not offensive to each other!

My point is that society has become more and more relaxed in their morals and have become much more accepting of foul things and it has really started to effect the demeanor of the world, the way that the world is even run and even how people think. I recently read the new book by Dan Brown, “The Lost Symbol”, and it talked about a new science called Noetic science where it explains that masses of people who are joined in one specific thought or cause it can change society. I totally think that could be true! Right now there are so many bitter and angry people thinking that they have been wronged in one way or another. Most everyone, well almost everyone, hate each other now a days and won’t show respect to each other anymore. It’s sad when I have a good friend that is a good person, but if I ask him not to use offensive language or make off color remarks about my beliefs and morals that he gets offended. Anyone else think that is skewed?

Now I’m not saying I am perfect by any means I have so A LOT of improvement to make, but I am going to start trying. I hate being the guy that says something that was off color and made other people feel offended, for me regardless if you are gay, straight, different race, alien or a hermaphrodite I don’t want to offend you. I personally think that starting with my self and watching what I say and trying to improve my demeanor and morals and try to love my neighbor and not be uncaring towards them… then I am doing my part and would surely hope others would do the same and the Human race as a whole can start to change…but ultimately if they want to say the F word and offend others… then I guess oh well.

Please stick with me this is my first blogging experience and am learning on my way… cause I’m sure as hell not going to buy the “blogging for dummies” book. (sorry if I offended you for using the work HELL)
